The body naturally prepares for the day by increasing cortisol levels before waking up. This process elevates blood glucose, triggering a small release of insulin to provide energy for the morning ahead. However, when individuals consume tea, particularly with sugar, it can disrupt this natural metabolic process. The added sugar causes a sharp rise in blood glucose, leading to an even higher insulin release, which is detrimental for those with insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance is a condition where the body's cells do not respond effectively to insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels. This condition can lead to weight gain, fatigue, and an increased risk of diabetes. Over 50% of urban Indians are affected by insulin resistance, making it a significant health concern.
